This class was so much fun! Even though it was challenging at points and I really had to try and figure out how to make something work for a challenge, exercise, or my project, it barely felt like school. There were so many resources for helping me do better, from the actual class time, to more specific videos, to Mrs. Escalante giving me advice through email, to the classmates giving me suggestions and ideas. Throughout the year we got to build things out of our imagination, work out problems, we got to understand design and its elements and put our new skills to use. We learned so much! This class offers so much, so if you like to design, draw, do any type of art, figure out problems, or work with computers, this would be right for you!

If I could only use three words to describe this course, it would be: practical, interactive, and fun. I feel so much more prepared to take on projects after being in this class. I was talking to some graphic design college students and even after 3 years in, they said they still feel unprepared to go out into the workforce. Considering how much better their skills are compared to mine, its amazing. Not only is the curricula solid, the teacher also takes the time to converse and help.

Elise M.

This course is great for beginners who are totally new to graphic design.
The course starts at the very basics and builds its way up even to working with real clients. The projects are fun and creative and help implement
new techniques. I would definitely recommend this class.

Daniel R.

The course is engaging, fun, and overall a great way to learn about design and get some solid starting experience in the field. The teacher
is great at instructing students how
to use Illustrator, students learn
how to follow helpful design project guidelines, and at each stage of development, each student gets lots
of feedback on their work.

I took this class because I wasn’t sure if graphic design was something that I was interested in. I’m so happy that I tried it out! This class does well in showing how to use Adobe Illustrator. There are also fun projects to help with your growing skills! It is a course that I would definitely recommend to anyone at all interested in learning graphic design!

Through this course, I've discovered the love I have for graphic design! Before entering this class, I knew nothing about design, but as the year progressed, I learned so much through the projects and book lessons we completed. The work assigned was purposeful and beneficial to me as a beginner. The projects were well planned out, and because they were set up in phases, there wasn't too much stress involved. I was able to accomplish so many projects that I'm proud of, and that set a strong foundation for my knowledge of design. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who has even the slightest bit of interest in design/art. The teacher was amazing in providing great feedback, and keeping class
light and fun!

This course teaches students everything they need to know to be able to start their journey in Photoshop. From in-class lessons to out of class assignments, I learned so much through taking this class, and I will be using all my new-found knowledge to continue working in Photoshop throughout the summer. In addition to exploring the Photoshop tools, Mrs. Escalante teaches her students what it is like to work in a professional graphic design setting, and provides her students with tips for their Photoshop career. She is truly a wonderful teacher who glorifies the Lord through her work!

This class is such an adventure! It’s such a fun way to eject inner creativity, creating works of art. There is so much to learn, from elements and principles of design, to color schemes, to making stories and worlds come to life that no one has ever seen or heard of. Every project, challenge, and exercise is exciting! This class offers structure which I appreciate, and it also gives you enough freedom to express yourself through a new form of art. Though some parts of learning were a bit difficult, there were many ways so be assisted throughout the process, from advice given from Mrs. Escalante, and classmates, to videos and tutorials. I also really liked that I was able to use my own photographs and create something new out of them. If you like designing, taking pictures, trying out new forms of art, this is such a fun experience you should try it out!

Prior to this class, I had no photoshop experience. This class has taught me so much, and was easy to follow along/learn for a beginner like me! The homework assignments teach how to use a certain tool/setting in a fun and engaging way. The teacher Mrs. Escalante is great and very helpful with any questions or difficulties I’ve had during assignments. I would highly recommend this class to others!

Laurel C.

This course is perfect for someone wanting to learn more about Photoshop and how to utilize the tools. Mrs. Escalante takes you step-by-step through the program so that it is not overwhelming. This class has really boosted my self-confidence when it comes to creating art. I always felt that I wasn’t talented enough to create wonderful pieces, but because of this class and my photography class, I don’t have those negative thoughts anymore. I really love how Mrs. E always shows us how much she cares for us and helps us in our every step.

I would recommended this class to anyone who has a creative interest in any area of art. Even if they are interested in painting or music, Adobe Photoshop plays into so many areas of art. This class challenges you to open up your creative insight on little details that make a huge difference. I personally loved this class not only because of the intriguing material we learned, but because of the teacher as well. Mrs. Escalante did an incredible job of explaining complicated scenarios, she would answer your questions right away, and she really understands the creative mindset. She challenges you to think about your style and who you are as a creator.
